About
Beer and mud. Pretty simple.
I love beer. I’ve been homebrewing since right out of college in ‘93. Worked briefly at the now-defunct Oxford Brewing Co. in MD. I moved out to Oregon in ‘98 to go to the Fermentation Science Program at Oregon State, but I never made it down. I wanted to be a pro brewer, and sometimes I still do, but I’m just as happy doing what I’m doing.
I’ve always been a bike rider. The Huffy X20 I used for delivering papers. My first GT bmx bike with Z-rims. The Panasonic 10 speed which I got in high school. But it wasn’t until I got a Gary Fischer in college and really started riding off-road hard that I learned that while riding bikes was fun, riding bikes FAST through things and over things was really, really fun.
I got turned on to cyclocross after watching the 2003 USGP races here in Portland. It looked like a ridiculous amount of fun. I started at the bottom the next year with my mountain bike and have been slowly moving my way up. I’m in my first year of the A35+ category and have learned a whole new definition of pain.
Congrats on your win. “I’m in the B+35 category for the rest of the season and then I’ll move up to A+35 next year” Upgrade now!
